They baked banana cake. They played board games. They laughed at each other for reasons I still don't fully understand. But what made this film special wasn't really what they were doing. It was how they were doing it together.

There was something about Kai that caught my attention from the moment I met him. He was quiet, a little mysterious, and completely comfortable just being himself. He was also surprisingly happy to have a camera around, which, if you've filmed enough children, you know isn't always the case.

What I liked about filming this wasn't really any single activity. It was watching the energy of the family change throughout the day. The kids started with endless energy. Running around, playing, exploring, asking for more things to do.
